We, Diane and Ray, began our journey in December 1980 when we first started dating. Two months later we were engaged, then marriage seven months later in September 1981. I took Diane sailing in the Virgin Island for our honeymoon and we have been sailing ever since. We always talked about a big boat adventure when we retired.  Well that day has arrived and we are close to starting.  Diane retired in June 2019 and I retire at the end of December 2019.  By the way we prefer the Spanish word for retirement - Jubilacion - or Jubilation.  We have entered Jubilation!  Hallelujah!

We went to the darkside and bought a power boat. After two years of looking, a 2003 51’ Ocean Alexander became ours in December 2018.  We have been working on it to make it just the way we want it since then.  In January 2020 the Radian Journey adventure will begin. We will head south from Hilton Head to south Florida to stay warm and to do some diving.  The Keys and the Bahamas may be in the picture too.

In March 2020, we will start north on our sojourn up the coast as our first leg to The Down East Loop. This trip takes us up the Atlantic Inter-coastal Waterway (AICW) to New York, the Erie Canal, Lake Ontario and out the St. Lawrence Seaway and around Nova Scotia, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut  and the rest of Long Island Sound back to New York and south again for the winter.

In March 2021, we will start out the same as above, but turn left when we get to the north side of Lake Ontario to do The Great Loop. This will take us from Lake Ontario to the Trent-Severn waterway to the northern part of Lake Huron, called The Georgian Bay.  We will spend a fair amount of time In this area and then on to Mackinaw Island, the east and part of the west coasts of Lake Michigan. Then we head through Chicago down the Illinois River to the Mississippi River, to the Ohio River, Tennessee River and down the Tombigbee river to Mobile, Al. Then around Florida, the Keys, the Dry Tortugas and the Bahamas.  From there we will have to determine what is next.
